Milly Molly Mandy - Our favourite read aloud! I created two activities to accompany the first few chapters of the first book in the collection. The first is a comprehension worksheet and the other is focused on math skills. My daughter (who is 5) couldn’t wait to start them! I always find that math (especially) is so much more enjoyable when there is a story to go along with it. I have a few more things planned to continue the Milly Molly Mandy theme, something that involves cake and some stitching! Watch this space 🌻

We recently wrapped up our first homeschool unit study for the 2020-2021 school year! As my eldest is just 5 years old and my youngest is almost 2, we included a lot of craft and sensory play in the unit. I initially intended to use Hana's (Pepper & Pine) Ocean Study curriculum which I purchased as soon as it came out (I was very excited, its beautiful and so rich in detail), however I think my girls will get much more out of it in future years, In Shaa Allah (God willing). Below I will list most of the activities we did, as well as the books and materials we used. I will also include a few of the printables I made so they hopefully come in handy for you too! The Big Book of the Blue was all we really needed for research. The only time I turned to the internet was for marine habitats (I used the Nat Geo website) and also to purchase some cute ocean creatures for our lapbook and other ocean crafts. One of our favourites was the Octopus Cardboard Art we made as our entry for Yuval Zommers Kid Art competition. You can see more of it on our Instagram @dinneranddaisies. We had a science lesson along with our fellow homeschooling friends in the community and the subject was Marine Habitats. For this, I made a few resources myself to go along with the lesson. We also read about Coral Reefs and Kelp Forests in the book Secrets of the Sea. The illustrations are beautiful and really capture the audiences attention. It was full of details in both the text and the visuals.I highly recommend this living book! We used the habitat cards and some printable ocean animals to match the animals to the correct habitat. Then I asked the girls to recreate their favourite Ocean Habitat in the Jellyfish printable. I wanted to create a simple daily journal for my daughter to use as a daily reflection at the end of her homeschool day. I took inspiration from fellow homeschooling mums and Pinterest, and this is the final product! If you download and use the printable, please remember to tag me in your Instagram posts! I would love to see it in action!
I also made an adults version, so I can reflect along with my daughter! It doesn't necessarily have to be used daily, perhaps weekly would be more attainable. Apparently it take 30 days to create a habit, and I hear journals are great habits! Enjoy!

I have created a fun, short activity book to go along with our Hajj Unit. We are using the Hajj chapter from the Migo & Ali A-Z of Islam to cover all the information pertaining to Hajj. I suggest you cover most of the Hajj topics with your children before starting the activity book.
We also have on our 'Hajj Bookshelf', Yan's Hajj and Going to Makkah. I highly suggest investing in both of these beautiful books! They are a lovely read anytime of the year!
